About the StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice

StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice (SCLJ) is a tax-exempt membership organization that partners with the StandWithUs Saidoff Legal Department, a division of StandWithUs, a nonprofit education organization dedicated to supporting Israel and combating antisemitism. Comprised of students, professors, and community members, SCLJ enhances StandWithUs’ mission through impact litigation and other legal actions. This includes litigation, filing Title VI complaints with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, and utilizing all relevant legal strategies to combat antisemitism in K-12 schools, campus and the community.Â
Meet Our Leadership Team
Dr. Oleg Ivanov
Executive Director
Dr. Oleg Ivanov was born in Odesa, Ukraine, and grew up in San Francisco, where he currently resides. In addition to serving as the Executive Director of the StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice, he is also the Executive Director of StandWithUs Northern California. He previously worked on Jewish and pro-Israel advocacy at the San Francisco office of the American Jewish Committee, the Consulate of Israel in Miami, the World Jewish Congress, and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Oleg earned his PhD at UCLA, where his research focused on the creation of Soviet antizionism and its international dissemination. He has served on the San Francisco District Attorney’s Jewish Community Advisory Board and was honored to receive the 2024 Swami Vivekananda Award for Advancing Pluralism from the Hindu American Foundation.
Yael Lerman
Director of Legal Strategy​
Yael Lerman is the Director of Legal Strategy. In this role, Yael oversees implementation of SCLJ’s mission to take legal action against antisemitism, including: filing Title VI complaints with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights; working with SCLJ members, community stakeholders, and partner organizations on legal strategies to combat antisemitism in K-12 schools, on university campuses, and in the broader community; and serving as a plaintiff in litigation to combat antisemitism. Â
Yael is a graduate of Columbia University and New York University Law School. Since 2014, she has served as the Founding Director of the StandWithUs Saidoff Legal Department, a division of StandWithUs, a partner organization to SCLJ and a nonprofit education organization dedicated to supporting Israel and combating antisemitism.Â
StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice has partnerships with other non-profit entities to assist in furthering the charitable mission of StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice.
